Our Lord isal'Awwal, theFirst One without a start to His existence, before time and space. Allahta^aalaa said{Huwa_l'Awwal}which means: {He is the First Onewithout a beginning}andAllah Lord ofthe Worldsisal'Aakhirwho will nevercease to exist nor perish.Allah ta^aalaa said{Huwa_l'Awwaluwal'Aakhir}whichmeans{He is the First One without a beginning and theOnewithout end to His existence}4. He ta^aalaa revealed words whose meaning is:{thereality of your Lord will always be, Lord of glory and generosity}5i.e. AllahHimselfwill always exist.Allahis all-hearing and all-seeing. The hearing of Allah is His attribute and“how”does not apply to it; the sight of Allah is His attribute and“how”doesnot apply to it. He hears without needing instruments oreardrums and He seeswithout needinga pupilor rays of light. What is created needs instruments tohear and see andthey needthe rest of thesenses, as for Allah,{thereis nothingwhatever like unto Himand He is the One who hears and sees...}6Our Lordhaskalaamand our master Musaheard Him speaking and so did ourmaster Muhammad–salawaatu Rabbee wasalaamuhoo ^alayhimaa-and it does notresemble the creatures’ speech. When youspeak,you do so in a language withletters and soundsbut Allah’s attribute ofkalaamis an attribute of your Lordwhich is not like your words, it is neither a language, nor letters, nor sounds;instead it is a‘sifah’, an attributeof the Lord of the Worlds who is clear of anyresemblance with creation.Our Lord has alsoWill, called'iraadahormashee'ahin Arabic. It is anattributeby which Allahspecifies for the creatures He wants whatHewantsthem tobe like, so some will be the damned, others will be the blessed, one willbe evil and another one will be good...He is also all-powerful and nothing canprevent His willfrom beingrealised... He is also all-knowing and no knowledgeescapes Him, whether past, present or future.Allah is alHayy, the Living God and alQayyoom, the Everlasting God... Allah’slife is His attribute...it is independentofa soul or a body,it is not like anythingmeant about creatures. Allah ta^aalaa said{wa'ilaahukum'ilaahun~waahid}, which means:{and your God is the One God}8Allahsubhaanahuis the one needed by His creation but, He has no need ofanything from His creationso one of His attributes is His independence, thefact thatHe does not needanyone else and is in no want of the world. He is theCreator who described himself by saying:{'Afaman yakhluqukamal_laa yakhluq}whose meaning is:{Is the One who creates like the Onewho does not?}9so He subhaanahu is different fromanything whoseexistencehas a start;that is to say He does not resemble anything of His creationand hesaid,{Laysa kamithlihee shay'...}10whose meaning is:{There is nothing whateverlike unto Him...}This is how the slave ought to know His Lord and whoever contradicts thisand believes the opposite of this, does not know Allah and whoever does notrecognise the existence of Allah, it is as if he said, “This world does not have acreator”Whoever says, “Allahis not the First One without a beginning”, it is as ifhesaid, “Allah is created”Whoever says, “Allahis notEverlasting”, it is as if he said, “Allahcan stopexisting”Whoever says, “He does not have the attributes ofHearing andSight”, it is as ifhe said, “Allah is deaf and blind”The same applies to the other attributes we mentioned...so know them andteach them, memorise them and make others memorise them.
